7 Valentine's Day Books For Kids That Are So Cute You Will Love Reading Them All Year Long

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays. It is not as glamorous as Christmas, granted, or as cool as Halloween. But the day has perks. Like the chocolate. Valentine's Day chocolate is awesome.

Another great thing about V-day is that you can get so many wonderful kids' books. Books that remind kids about love and being kind to one another. Books that teach kids to care about each other.

So I have listed some adorable Valentine's books for preschoolers and first-graders. However, don't get me wrong. Any kid or grown-up will enjoy these stories. And some chocolate.  Definitely some chocolate.

Happy Valentine's Day, Mouse! Kids will be delighted as they follow their much-loved Mouse as he plans the perfect valentine's day cards for his friends.  Mouse wants to make sure each valentine's card he makes shows each friend just what he loves most about them.

The Night Before Valentine's Day by Natasha Wing is from her collection of 'Night Before' books (which are, of course, based on the all-time classic, Night Before Christmas!) In this story, kids are getting ready for their Valentine's Day classroom party. Which means making cards, and planning games and activities. On the day of their party, a surprise visitor arrives with a Valentine's Day gift for the whole classroom. A fun book for kids and parents of all ages!!

If you are looking for a perfect Valentine's Day book for toddlers, Llama Llama I Love You by Anna Dewdney is perfect! The character, Little llama, wants to show his friends and family how much he loves them with heart-shaped cards and lots of hugs.

A Crankenstein Valentine by Samantha Berger.  Crankenstein is the grumpiest kid ever, who only speaks monster-speak. And he is green. Children's author Samantha Berger has written a wonderful series of these books for Kindergartners on up. So anyone who has read other Crankenstein books is definitely going to love this one as well, as they find out if Crankenstein will change his monster-like ways for Valentine's this year.

The Yuckiest, Stinkiest, Best Valentine Ever by Brenda Ferber. I love this book because girls and boys are going to laugh out loud when they read it.  Kids are going to love reading about Leon, who has decided he wants to give a girl he likes a special Valentine.

Pete The Cat: Valentine's Day is Cool By Kimberly and James Dean. Pete the Cat does not like Valentine's Day. But with a little help from a friend, he soon changes his mind. Most Preschoolers and Kindergartners already know Pete the Cat from other books in the series, and will no doubt enjoy reading about Pete's Valentine's Day adventure.

The Day It Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond. This is such a sweet book, I had to add it to my list. It is about a little girl named Cornelius Augustus who finds herself catching hearts that fall from the sky one day. She then decides to make special Valentines for her animal friends - each valentine is just as special and unique as each of her friends. This is the kind of book you will want to read with your little Valentine all snuggled up in bed.
