My munchkin boys love playing Wii games, ad they love everything Cars---from the movies to the books! So when I told them we would be getting the new Wii Game, Cars Toon: Mater's Tall Tales, they eagerly awaited the delivery!
When it arrived, it took about two seconds for the game to be out of the package and in the game system. But then things slowed down considerably while we all attempted to figure out how to get started with the game itself. It was confusing and not that user-friendly in the beginning. However, that being said, this has turned out to be one of the most fun games the boys have played since getting the Wii last year.
Cars Toon: Mater's Tall Tales is part of the Mania! video game franchise, featuring fast-paced, multiplayer, family fun. The game makes a great family night activity as up to 4 players can play and compete. It is fast paced and fun, but I definitely feel my six year old grasped the concepts of the game far easier than my 4 year old, however he is so in love with Mater (even has a treasured Mater chair in his bedroom!) that he loves to 'play along' with this game every chance he gets.
Mater and the rest of the "Cars' gang, including Lightening McQueen of course, are basically reliving Mater's 'Tall Tales' and having a ball doing so. I love watching my six year old playing and his little brother laughing so hard at the hilarious events and scenes happening on the screen. I am also impressed with the lessons my older son especially is getting from this game -- learning to be cooperative, politely competitive (tough for a six year old boy!) and even learning how to let your imagination run wild.
Definitely a fun gift for the holiday season and for long after the holidays are over (think summer fun for the long days of summer...cause you know they will be here in a blink of an eye!)
